Shipping Policy
We ship rare, collector-quality plants worldwide — carefully packaged and handled every step of the way to ensure your plant arrives healthy and ready to thrive.
Last updated: March 2026From Our Hands to Your Door
Every order goes through a careful, step-by-step process to ensure your plant is in perfect condition when it arrives. Here's exactly what happens after you place your order:
Order Received
Your order is confirmed and enters our system. You'll receive an order confirmation email with your details.
Plant Inspection & Packing
Your plant is personally inspected for health and quality, then carefully packed with specialist materials including protective wrapping, moisture control, and heat or cold packs as needed.
Handed to Courier
Your parcel is dispatched and handed to the courier. You'll receive a tracking number via email so you can follow your shipment in real time.
On Its Way to You
Your plant travels to your door. US orders typically arrive within 2–8 business days. International orders may take longer depending on destination and customs.
Your Plant Arrives
Open your package promptly, place your plant in bright indirect light, water lightly, and let it settle in. Contact us within 24–48 hours if anything looks wrong.
Processing Time
All orders are processed within 1–3 business days from the date of purchase. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding US public holidays.
We are careful about which days we dispatch plants to avoid them sitting in courier facilities or delivery vehicles over weekends or during extreme weather conditions. This protects your plant and ensures it arrives in the best possible condition.
During busy seasons, new plant releases, or periods of high demand, processing may take slightly longer than usual. We will always communicate any significant delays to you by email.

Delivery Timeframes
Estimated delivery times after dispatch are as follows. These are estimates and are not guaranteed — courier delays, customs processing, and weather events can occasionally impact delivery timelines.
- United States: 2–8 business days after dispatch
- United Kingdom: 7–14 business days after dispatch
- Canada: 7–14 business days after dispatch
- Europe: 10–21 business days after dispatch
- Asia Pacific & Rest of World: Varies by destination — typically 14–28 business days
- Remote or rural areas: May require additional time in all regions
Add 1–3 days processing time to the delivery estimates above to get your total estimated wait from order placement to arrival. For example, a US order typically takes 3–11 days total from purchase to delivery.
Shipping Costs
Shipping costs are calculated automatically at checkout based on your delivery location, the size and weight of your parcel, and current courier rates. You will always see the exact shipping cost before you complete your purchase — there are no hidden fees.
We periodically offer free shipping promotions on qualifying orders. Follow us on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook to stay informed about any active offers.
For international orders, any customs duties, import taxes, VAT, or other government-imposed fees are entirely the customer's responsibility and are not included in our shipping prices. These vary by country and are charged by your local customs authority — we have no control over them.
How We Pack Your Plant
We treat every shipment as if we're sending it to our own home. Our specialist plant packaging is designed to protect your plant throughout its journey — from our facility in New Baden, Illinois, all the way to your door.
Protective Wrapping
Each plant is individually wrapped to secure leaves and stems and prevent movement during transit.
Moisture Control
We use moisture-retaining materials to keep roots hydrated throughout the shipping journey.
Heat & Cold Packs
Included as needed based on weather conditions at origin and destination to protect against temperature extremes.
Secure Boxing
Plants are boxed snugly to prevent shifting or tipping during courier handling and transit.
Pre-Ship Inspection
Every plant is personally inspected for health, root development, and leaf quality before it is packed.
Care Instructions
Care guidance is included with every order to help you unbox and settle in your new plant with confidence.
Order Tracking
Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a tracking number via email. You can use this to monitor your shipment's progress in real time through the courier's website or tracking portal.
If you have not received a tracking email within 3 business days of placing your order, please check your spam or junk folder first, then contact us at sales@variegatedplantshop.com and we'll look into it for you.
Once your tracking shows your parcel is out for delivery, please make sure someone is available to receive it — or ensure there is a safe place for it to be left. Plants left outdoors for extended periods in hot or cold weather may be damaged.
Your Responsibility as a Customer
To ensure smooth delivery and protect your plant, customers are responsible for the following:
- Providing a complete and accurate shipping address at checkout
- Ensuring safe and accessible delivery access at your address
- Monitoring your tracking and being available to receive the parcel
- Retrieving your plant promptly upon delivery — especially in hot or cold weather
- Checking your country's plant import regulations before placing an order
We are not responsible for delivery failures, damage, or loss caused by:
- An incorrect or incomplete shipping address provided by the customer
- A missed delivery where the plant was left unattended outdoors
- Theft of the parcel after confirmed delivery
- Weather damage occurring after delivery
- Customer delays in retrieving the parcel
International Orders & Customs
We ship worldwide and have experience sending plants to customers across many countries. However, international shipping involves additional considerations that all customers should be aware of before ordering.
It is the customer's sole responsibility to verify that the plant they are ordering can legally be imported into their country before placing an order. Some plant species are subject to biosecurity and quarantine restrictions and may be prohibited or require an import permit.
We are not responsible for plants seized, held, destroyed, or delayed by customs authorities. Refunds will not be issued in circumstances where the customer failed to check import regulations prior to purchasing.
For international shipments we will, where required, complete and include necessary phytosanitary documentation. However, it remains your responsibility to ensure all import requirements for your country are met.
Any import duties, taxes, VAT, or customs brokerage fees charged by your country's authorities upon arrival are entirely the customer's responsibility. These fees are not included in our prices and vary by country and plant type. We recommend researching your country's import fees before ordering.
Customs processing times vary widely by country and can add several days to your delivery estimate. We have no control over customs clearance timelines.
Shipping Restrictions
While we aim to ship worldwide, there are some circumstances where we may be unable to fulfil an order:
- Destinations where specific plant species are legally prohibited from import
- Locations where courier services are unavailable or unreliable for live plant shipments
- Countries under active trade or shipping embargoes
- Extreme weather conditions that would make safe plant transit impossible
If we are unable to ship to your location or a specific product cannot be shipped to your country, we will notify you and issue a full refund. If you are unsure about restrictions in your area before ordering, please contact us first.
Lost or Significantly Delayed Orders
If your tracking shows no movement for an extended period, or your order has not arrived within a reasonable time beyond the estimated delivery window, please contact us at sales@variegatedplantshop.com with your order number.
We will open an investigation with the courier on your behalf. Please note that courier investigations can take several business days to resolve. We will keep you updated throughout the process.
If your plant arrives damaged, this is covered under our Refund & Returns Policy — not this Shipping Policy. Contact us within 24–48 hours of delivery with photos of the plant and packaging. See our Refund & Returns Policy for full details.
Shipping Questions?
If you have any questions about shipping to your location, delivery timeframes, packaging, or the status of your order, please don't hesitate to reach out. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 1–2 business days.
