Our Plants

Every single plant we sell is fully rooted and hardened before it leaves our facility. We never sell unrooted cuttings, water props, or unstable specimens. What you order is a living, established plant ready to grow in your home.

What "hardened" means: The plant has been acclimated from lab or greenhouse conditions to normal home environments — so it won't go into shock when it arrives.

We source exclusively from verified tissue-culture labs and responsible growers in Thailand, Indonesia, and the United States. All plants are ethically grown — never wild-harvested — and are genetically stable with authentic variegation.

Yes. Because we source from verified tissue-culture labs, the variegation on our plants is genetically authentic — not induced by chemicals or environmental stress. That said, variegation levels can vary naturally from plant to plant, and low light conditions at home can cause variegation to fade over time.

Tip: Keep your variegated plants in bright, indirect light (6–7 hours daily) to maintain vivid variegation.

Yes. All plants are inspected for pests and disease before being listed and before shipping. Because we source from tissue-culture labs, our plants have a very low risk of pest issues compared to nursery-grown stock. We still recommend a quarantine period when introducing any new plant to an existing collection as a best practice.

Many of our plants — including Monstera, Philodendron, Alocasia, and Anthurium varieties — are toxic if ingested by pets or humans. Each product listing includes a safety note. Please always check before purchasing, and keep toxic plants out of reach of pets and young children.

We specialise in rare and collector-quality variegated plants across several categories including Monstera, Philodendron, Alocasia, Anthurium, Encephalartos Cycads, and rare Cacti (both indoor and outdoor varieties). Our inventory is regularly updated with new and limited specimens.

Shipping & Delivery

We ship worldwide! This includes the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, and many more countries globally.

Important: Some plant species are subject to biosecurity and import restrictions in certain countries. You are responsible for checking your local regulations before ordering to ensure your plant can legally be imported.

Orders are processed and dispatched within 1–3 business days. Once shipped, delivery typically takes 2–8 business days for US orders. International orders to the UK, Canada, Europe, and beyond may take longer depending on your location and customs processing.

Note: Delivery estimates are not guarantees. Courier delays and weather events can occasionally impact timelines.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on your delivery location, parcel size, and weight. We occasionally offer free shipping promotions — follow our social media channels to stay updated.

We use specialist plant packaging including protective wrapping, moisture control materials, and secure boxing to prevent movement during transit. Heat packs or cold packs are included as needed based on weather conditions. We treat every shipment as if we're sending it to our own home.

Yes. Once your order is dispatched, you will receive tracking information so you can follow your shipment every step of the way. Please make sure to retrieve your plant promptly upon arrival, especially during hot or cold weather.

If your order appears lost or is significantly delayed, contact us at sales@variegatedplantshop.com with your order number. We will investigate with the courier on your behalf. Please note investigations may take several business days to resolve.

Plant Care

Yes, minor transit stress is completely normal. Being in a box for several days can cause temporary drooping, slight discolouration, or leaf curl. This is not damage. Place your plant in bright indirect light, water lightly, and give it 5–10 days to settle in. It will bounce back.

If leaves are severely damaged, mushy, or the plant looks truly unhealthy — contact us within 24–48 hours with photos and we'll make it right.

Most of our variegated plants thrive in bright, indirect light — around 6–7 hours per day. Avoid direct sunlight, which can burn the white or pale sections of leaves. Low light will cause variegation to fade over time, so a spot near a bright window (but not in direct sun) is ideal.

Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess to drain from the pot. Overwatering is the most common cause of plant death — never let your plant sit in standing water as this causes root rot.

Most of our tropical plants prefer humidity of 60% or higher. You can increase humidity by using a humidifier, grouping plants together, or placing them in naturally humid rooms like a kitchen or bathroom. Avoid placing plants near air conditioning vents or heating sources.

For most of our tropical aroids (Monstera, Philodendron, Alocasia, Anthurium), we recommend a rich, well-draining mix — equal parts perlite, orchid bark, coco peat, and coco coir works very well. For cacti, use a fast-draining cactus or succulent mix.

Yes, during the growing season (spring and summer). Use a balanced liquid fertiliser once a month. Variegated plants benefit from more diligent feeding than standard varieties because their reduced chlorophyll means they produce less energy from light. Stop fertilising in autumn and winter when growth slows.

Returns & Refunds

Because we sell live plants, we offer refunds, replacements, or store credit in cases where a plant arrives damaged in transit or if you receive the wrong item. We do not generally accept change-of-mind returns due to biosecurity and plant health risks.

Full details: See our Refund & Returns Policy page.

Contact us within 24–48 hours of delivery with the following:

• Clear photos of the damaged plant
• Photos of the packaging
• Your order number

Once reviewed, we'll offer a replacement plant, store credit, or a refund where appropriate. Refunds are typically processed within 5 business days.

Refunds may not be issued in the following situations:

• Incorrect shipping address provided by the customer
• Delivery was missed or the plant was left unattended outdoors
• The issue was reported more than 48 hours after delivery
• Damage occurred after delivery due to incorrect care or environment
• Normal transit stress such as minor leaf drooping

If you receive a plant that is different from what you ordered, contact us immediately with your order number and photos. We will arrange a replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Approved refunds are typically processed within 5 business days back to your original payment method.
