Refund & Returns Policy
We take pride in delivering healthy, thriving plants to customers worldwide. This policy is designed to be fair, transparent, and honest — because that's how we'd want to be treated.
Our Live Plant Guarantee
Every plant at Variegated Plant Shop is personally inspected, fully rooted, and carefully packed before it leaves our facility in New Baden, Illinois. We source exclusively from verified tissue-culture labs and responsible growers — every plant is ethically grown, genetically stable, and pest-free.
Because we sell live, natural organisms, some variation is expected and normal:
- Leaf shape, size, and variegation levels vary naturally between plants
- Minor cosmetic imperfections such as small marks or slight leaf curl are normal
- Temporary transit stress such as drooping or slight discolouration is not considered damage
- Variegation patterns changing over time due to light conditions is not a defect

Damaged or Incorrect Orders
If your plant arrives genuinely damaged in transit, or if you receive the wrong item, we will make it right. Here's how the process works:
Contact Us
Email us within 24–48 hours of delivery at sales@variegatedplantshop.com with your order number.
Send Photos
Include clear photos of the damaged plant AND the packaging it arrived in.
We Resolve It
Once reviewed, we'll offer one of the outcomes below based on your situation.
Replacement Plant
We send you a replacement of the same or equivalent plant at no cost.
Store Credit
Receive store credit to use on any future purchase from our shop.
Refund
A full or partial refund back to your original payment method where appropriate.
If you receive a plant different from what you ordered, contact us immediately with photos and your order number. We will arrange a replacement or full refund at absolutely no cost to you.
Refund Processing Time
Once a refund has been approved by our team, it will be processed within 5 business days back to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or card provider, it may take a few additional days to appear in your account.
You will receive an email confirmation once your refund has been issued.
Change-of-Mind Returns
Due to the nature of live plants and biosecurity regulations, we are generally unable to accept returns for change-of-mind purchases. Once a plant has been shipped, it cannot be returned as this poses serious risk to the plant's health and may violate import/export biosecurity rules.
Please review product descriptions, care requirements, and photos carefully before ordering. If you have any questions or would like additional photos of a specific plant before buying, we encourage you to contact us first — we're always happy to help you make the right choice.
Order Cancellations
You may cancel your order for a full refund provided it has not yet been dispatched. Once your plant has been packed and handed to the courier, cancellation is no longer possible.
- Before dispatch — full refund issued promptly
- After dispatch — cancellation not possible; plant is already in transit
To request a cancellation, contact us as soon as possible at sales@variegatedplantshop.com with your order number.
Non-Refundable Situations
We are unable to issue refunds in the following circumstances:
- An incorrect shipping address was provided by the customer
- Delivery was missed or the plant was left unattended outdoors for an extended time
- The issue was reported more than 48 hours after confirmed delivery
- Plant damage occurred after delivery due to improper care, incorrect environment, or neglect
- Normal transit stress such as minor drooping, temporary leaf curl, or slight discolouration
- Variegation levels that differ from product photos due to natural variation between plants
Photos must be submitted within 24–48 hours of delivery. Claims submitted after this window may not be eligible for a refund or replacement, as it becomes difficult to determine whether any damage occurred during transit or after delivery.
International Orders & Customs
We ship to customers worldwide, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Europe, and beyond. However, international orders are subject to additional considerations:
🌍 Worldwide Shipping Notice
Customers are responsible for checking their country's biosecurity and import regulations before ordering. Some plant species may be restricted or require permits to import into certain countries.
We are not responsible for plants seized, delayed, or destroyed by customs authorities. Refunds will not be issued for orders confiscated at customs due to the customer's failure to verify local import regulations.
Any customs duties, import taxes, or fees charged by your country's authorities are the sole responsibility of the customer and are not included in our product or shipping prices.
Check your country's plant import regulations. If you're unsure whether a specific plant can be imported to your country, contact us before purchasing and we'll do our best to advise.
Your Consumer Rights
Nothing in this policy removes or limits your statutory rights under applicable consumer protection laws in your country. If a product has a major fault that we are responsible for, you are entitled to a remedy as required by the laws of your jurisdiction.
This policy is intended to complement, not replace, your legal rights as a consumer.

To request a refund, replacement, or report a damaged order, please contact us using one of the methods below. Always include your order number, photos of the plant and packaging, and a brief description of the issue.
We aim to respond to all refund requests within 1–2 business days.
